is where I might be going next summer! And Austria(if you talk to me and I say Vienna, I mean Austria). As some might know, every 2 years a group of German-speaking students from Valley Christian goes to Austria and Germany for about 6 weeks. My aunt, brother, and maybe uncle? have been on this trip. My brother was with the last group that went. And even though I'm home schooled, the teacher and leader of the group said I could go with them! I'm so excited! I've spent pretty much all my free time coming up with lists for it-lists of what I need, what I have, what I might have, what I can do to fundraise, etc etc. I'm pretty sure my brother is getting extremely annoyed with me-at least every other day I have about 3 new questions to ask him...and it's still over 6 months away!
I'm just so excited! I've been practicing my German and it's coming along...slowly, but coming. It seems that for me, my life has been mainly about getting ready for this trip. And I'm having a ton of fun doing it. My birthday and Christmas list? It has 2 things on it-gift cards to places that I can buy travel gear at, and anything off my 'needs for Germany' list. My sister and I have been working like crazy on making stuff for craft fairs that we will be at in November and December-there will only be 2 and although the first one is still 2 months away, we're getting ready.
The first one is the Valley Christian one-Kyra, my mom, and I will have a table. My mom will sell Pampered Chef and Kyra and I are selling a lot of stuff...dog treats, knitted hats and scarves, baby/lap quilts, handmade bracelets, and maybe even cat treats! And most of the funds will go towards Germany...depending how much we make.
I just can't wait until June!!!!!

Driving
Isn't so bad! Well, except for when in reverse...I think I scared my teacher while doing that. Since my drivers ed is in Florence, we started there. Then my driving buddy, Alisha Wiley, drove down the old highway just past Trader Brothers and back. Then I did the same thing. Then Alisha drove down past Trader Brothers to the parking lot and drove around cones. First a forward figure eight for awhile-one handed as well as two handed. Then she did that backwards, once again one handed as well. Then she did the serpentina-around every cone instead of the 8. Then she did that in reverse. Then I took over. I did basically the same thing...except I scared my teacher and didn't do one handed while in reverse. But I had never backed up at all before. Good news is my dad said he'd try to take me out practicing backing up this weekend! For now, breath easy Florence...until tomorrow when more beginners practice. Watch out Stevensville for we're coming for you next!!! :-)

It's been forever
since I blogged, I know. But now that school is out for the summer maybe I'll be able to a little more...maybe. :-)
Today I started drivers ed. I had to wake up at 6:45-almost 2 hours earlier than normal!! Yeah, that was exciting. :-) Drivers ed is a 2 hour class from 8-10 every day in Florence. Hopefully getting up earlier will get easier. It should, right? Starting this week, we will work on driving with our driving buddy. First trip is around Florence. That is a warning for Florence people. :-)
Other exciting stuff in my life:
Hopefully in a year I'm going to Germany and Austria! This is with kids from Valley. It will be around a 6 week trip, travelling all over. It's a missions trip-as well as sightseeing we will help out at English speaking day camps (VBS's), and churches and stuff like that. I am extremely excited and am working on learning German by myself. It's a lot harder than you might think at first-I have no idea if I'm saying stuff correctly. Thankfully, I have a friend who speaks German and helps me. And Geoffrey does sometimes correct my pronunciation.
Geoffrey, Kyra, JoyLynn, and I are getting ready for the fair. Kyra already has 2 of her exhibits done. Sometimes I think she has too much extra time...or too much self-discipline. :-) In my defense-my books are a bit harder. And one of my activities I can't get done for another week. For it, my friend and I will talk at dog class about getting ready for the dog show and stuff. Very exciting, I know. But, hey, if any of you guys need any advice on 4-H dog shows we'll be able to help you! Theoretically speaking, of course.
I guess I'll go work on some 4-H stuff...for now, llama board. My original plan was to do one on famous llamas but the only 2 I've found are Kuzco from Emperor's New Groove and Tina from Napolean Dynamite. So yeah, that's not going so well...I'll continue on that one.

Dance class
Probably our favorite class. The 'our' is Kyra, JoyLynn, and me. We are the ones in the dance class. But Atsede and Kebrom love to come and watch.
At dance Kyra and I dance for three hours-from 1-4. JoyLynn dances for 1 1/2 hours-from 1-2:30.
In dance we've learned cha-cha, slow two-step, several line dances, several round dances, we are learning rhumba, mombo, and jive.
We are constantly adding onto what we've already learned.
And this semester will end in March.
And that might be for good.
So sad.
But maybe a new dance will start fall semester. Something completely new.
And the family homeschool square-dances will keep going, no matter what.
If not, then us three girls will always treasure our memories of dance class and we'll always remember the dances.
And we'll probably always wish we could've done it more, for longer.
But we've made new friends, and strengthened other friendships. And we've had so much fun.
And that is more important and more special than anything else.

14 muh-tahs muh-tahs
That's how many night-nights until Thanksgiving. Or, 1 more piano class, 1 more math class, 1 more home-ec class, 2 more science classes, and 2 more dance classes until Thanksgiving break. And Thanksgiving break just goes by too fast. :-) Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today.
That just about sums up what's been going through my mind all week...and will continue to go through my head until after 14 muh-tahs muh-tahs, 1 more piano class, 1 more math class, and yeah, you get the idea. I'm excited. But for what? Well, besides a break from school and the chance to stuff myself?
Thanksgiving is more than just stuffing myself to me. Let me tell you what I do on every Thanksgiving real fast...
Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving to me unless you start off the day with the Macy's Day Parade. Along with getting ready for the rest of the day during it.
While we're watching we're getting bundled up and everything to go to my Nana's. There, my family plus some friends get on a hay ride, pulled by my Papa and his tractor. During the hay ride the mom's-who don't usually want to freeze on the hay ride-are cooking and visiting at Nana's.
When we get home we get unbundled, maybe change, and eat dinner. The traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Then we clean up, the men wash the dishes, and we read adds.
We finish off the evening with some adult games-adult Greed followed by spoons which the braver teens can join. But watch out, only play if your willing to lose a finger in the scramble for a spoon. :-)
The next day is spent, for me at least, decorating for Christmas and listening to the long awaited Christmas music.
And this year, the night before Thanksgiving us 5 youngest kids are going to sleep in the green room so that as soon as we wake up we can turn on the parade. I just can't wait!!!

classes, classes, classes
I rarely feel bored these days! But, that's a good thing, right? Mondays have geometry early in the morn and piano in the afternoon. Geometry I don't hate or anything-but having to wake up at 7:20 or something isn't very fun and doesn't make me look forward to it at all. But piano I love and enjoy. Having done it for 6 years, I can't imagine life without it. :-) Tuesdays and Thursdays have chemisty at 12:30. That's a class I don't dread, or look forward to. It's fun, but difficult. It's definitely a class I have to work for, but that's a good thing and it keeps my life exciting, right? :-) Wednesdays mornings are speech, home ec in the afternoon. I love both of those classes. Speech is only till beginning of November and even though I'll be happy because my life will become a bit easier, I'll be sad because it's a lot of fun. Home ec is a TON of fun. Not only because of all the fun and yummy things I get to make, but also because the people I do it with are good friends, fun, and funny. Fridays are dance class. Maybe my favorite class, along with piano. The last 2 weeks Kyra and I have ended up dancing for almost 3 hours. But as exhausted as we are at the end, I love the entire time and am sad everytime we can't make it. Why 3 hours of dancing tho? Well, at 12 there are 7 kids, including Kyra and I, that get a half hour class before the beginning class so that eventually we'll get to join the advanced class. Then from 12:30-2 we dance with the beginning class. From 2 to almost 3 we join the advanced class for a new dance for both of us. That's been going on for only 2 weeks, but it is going to continue until us 7 join the advanced class. But I am SOO excited for the next class already!!! Because dance is SO much fun. :-) Along with my other classes. :-) And I guess I just love smiley faces. :-)

Fall Favorites
Here are some of my favorite things about fall...
The food. Today Mom is making turkey and cranberries for sure and I'm hoping gravy and maybe even mashed potatoes will be added. It tastes SO good.
The chilliness. There's just something so fun about waking up and having it chilly outside but nice and warm inside and being able to wear warm, fuzzy clothes. :-)
The falling leaves. I mean, some favorite memories are raking up a pile of leaves and jumping into it. My plan today is a little bit later to take the 3 little ones out and to do just that.
The relaxed feeling. Just being able to stay inside and clean inside, watch a family movie in the evening, get stuff done inside like the Christmas stocking my mom is making, or my still unfinished quilt. :-)
The holidays. Everything about the holidays is awesome-the food, the gifts, or just the entire holiday feeling. The food as in the holiday-flavored coffee or hot chocolate, all the warm food, the sweet stuff like cookies or candy canes. The holiday feeling...Well, like everybody is just so happy. Especially at Christmas-time. It just feel extra-special.
And there's those awesome chick-flick holiday movies. I'm really excited for those. And even though my toes are cold during fall-it's a fun feeling because it makes me excited because Thanksgiving and Christmas and snow are on their way!!!! Hurry up please!!! :-)
